FAQ

How do you guys come up with your recipes? What inspires you?
We like to look around a lot. Books, magazines, tv shows or simply other blogs, and like to give our own spin to their ideas. No big secrets :) Often our recipes come from local tradition and get twisted a little, to make them a little more appealing (to us). We are constantly looking out for new stuff near and far away. By the way, we are still exploring all the Trattoria's close to our new place.

What kind of gear do you use to photograph your dishes? Do you have a favorite camera?
Honestly, we think about what to cook first, and how to photograph it later. We shoot both film and digital. Sometimes, when we wish we could have shot film we like to make it look like its analog, But most of the times we like keep it real. For film, we use a Pentax P30 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens , possibly loaded with messed up film.
For digital, a Nikon d70 and a d700, again with 35mm or 50mm lenses. Sometimes we photograph with other stuff (like cell phones) - we'll keep you updated on this one.

Did you ever go to school for cooking?
Nope, but we always wanted to. Our passion comes from a fortunate combination of events - growing up in Italy helped a lot, being from a country with a great food culture and constantly keeping involved with delicious ingredients and also thinking that good food is an cool component of a healthy relationship ;) That being said, we like to learn, we promise we are going to constantly improve techniques and share them with y'all.

Do you really eat everything that comes out of the kitchen?
We both grew up hearing our parents and grandparents saying "Shame on you for leaving stuff on the plate" and "what doesn't choke you, will make you fatter". Our eating ethic is pretty strict, if we cook something, we WILL eat it. Honestly speaking, sometimes our dishes had some "minor issues", in that case we pushed trough and ate them anyways. A good lesson for next time. We also like to cook for friends a lot, so if you ever wanna come over, let us know.

Can I use a picture you guys took on my own blog? How?
Tricky one! The answer is yes, however we ask you to always cite the source, putting a description of where you found the image. This will make things legitimate and make both parties (you and us) feel much happier :)
Also, if you feel extra generous, you can share our blog on yours, copying the little ad banner you find on the home page - the one with Cecilia's fingers.

Did it ever come to your mind that maybe you're recipes are only good because you're in love?
Thanks for asking! Yeah, we did, but we also decided to think that maybe your taste buds may have been damaged because you're single and super pissed off. Wanna reconsider? :) Jokes aside, we are aware sometimes our food is not the absolute best around, but we like to share what we feed ourselves with or mention cool products we think are worth talking about. So if your taste is open minded enough for our cousine, welcome into our world!!!
